In the first of a series of initiatives to drive sustainability within our business operations, Bowmer Bond has taken the decision to limit the use of plastics in the packaging of its products. We aim to reduce the amount of plastic waste and, where possible, encourage the recycling of all eligible packaging
We currently use plastic-based products in the packaging of our webbing solutions, as follows:
Heat Shrink Wrap:
This is used to protect the rolls of webbing from external contaminants should the outer packaging become compromised or damaged during transit to our customers. This is also helpful during the storage of items at the customer’s or wholesaler’s premises.
Film Wrap for Pallets:
This is used to secure and protect the boxed products on pallets before they are loaded with our hauliers for transport to our customers.
Our intentions in order to reduce plastic waste:
Where possible, we will no longer use the heat shrink wrap around the rolls of webbing packed inside the cardboard boxes.
In cases where it is still required, i.e. in certain market sectors such as medical-related applications, or in the case of light colours where any potential contaminants may affect the aesthetic quality of the webbing, we may continue with the use of the heat shrink wrap.
Film Wrap for Pallets:
The film used to secure and protect our pallets is made from 100% LLDPE [Linear Low-Density Polyethylene] which is 100% recyclable.
Should you have any questions or concerns regarding the above, please do not hesitate to contact your Area Sales Manager. We will continue to keep all customers informed and updated on this and any future changes to our products or how we supply them.
