In November 2022, three of our textile technicians travelled to the Jakob Müller Group Headquarters in Frick, Switzerland.   Jack Lambert, Mark Robson and Dan Smith participated in a five day training course which was a bespoke course developed for Bowmer Bond.

The course focused on NF Maintenance, Repair, Analysis & Weaving Systems.  The visit was part funded by the  UKFT’s Young Textile Technician Fund.  This fund was created to allow businesses across the UK to train textile technicians,  the fund covers part of the costs of in-depth textile training thanks to the support of The Worshipful Company of Weavers, The Worshipful Company of Clothworkers and The Worshipful Company of Drapers.

The images above show our textile technicians putting their training into action on looms at our Ashbourne and Tamworth sites.  Here you can see webbing being woven on the Narrow Fabric Needle Looms by Jakob Müller Group.

The UK Fashion & Textile (UKFT) is the largest network for fashion and textile companies in the UK.  The Association is in a unique position representing the entire UK fashion and textile supply chain, from spinning, weaving and knitting, right through to the catwalk.  The President of the UKFT is HRH The Princess Royal.

The UKFT has published an article about the training course at Jakob Müller which contains feedback from our textile technicians on the course content and how they believe this will help them in their daily work and their ability to train others and pass on this knowledge to colleagues across the wider business.
